today one can argue that to know that someone has pointed at somebody else describes the story of social networking tools best. it just seems to be that human to find out who was setting the pointer? who is this chap that found me? it's not about search, it's not about friendship it's about being found.

clean slate design

once i listened to tomonori aoyama, university of tokyo, who talked about that it should be possible to re-think networking protocols without any restriction, even considering x.25 or so. at stanford they call this notion clean slate.
