to your "Europa und das Internet" piece I took out my "Rechnernetze und Datenfernverarbeitung" of 1976. (fits nice in here, it was a Fachtagung of the Gesellschaft für Informatik and the Nachrichtentechnische Gesellschaft) and found it was all there. The good and the bad, packet, simplicity, ARPA networking and Cyclades. Information and inspiration were not the things they lacked. Strange world, mentally.
You had that book once, it' the one with the little ARPAnet diagram.

can you borrow it to me again? after al these talks, i think the problem was: sitting between chairs and how to deal with that. that variied from country to country. the first guy i spoke with was from england and the last one - so far - from germany. probably one reason for my conclusion.

for an unlimited time ...., it is mostly by Germans but has got an intersting paper on Cyclades and even something on routing computational functions from Austria. England's in their too with a quite famous guy ...
