when was it that shannon wrote his text "a mathematical theory of communication" some who should know say 1948 others have seen the year 1940? a typo or a fact? those who believe the latter suggest shannon has written it already 1940, but beause of matters of concealment (he worked back then for the national defense research committee on fire control systems and cryptography) he couldn't publish it on time.
