so mobilestar wants to find a way to stay alive, some people say. (via a wi-fi weblog). curious if they will find some analysts that will support them. maybe the government? in octubre nancy gohring from interactive week asked for ricochet wireless data network: "isn't there somebody out there with several million bucks who can buy metricom?" telling some lines later the following: "Yet the city of New York called Metricom to ask if the network could be turned back on so that rescue workers at the World Trade Center could use it to communicate." source zdnet ... it seems every year since 1998 i have to do a 3g story, a standard they call in europe umts. (see fuzo and hear matrix at 22.30, fm 92.00). not a lot of things have changed in the last 4 years. the only thing left for europeans to be proud of is, that they brought together seven different standard groups on one table to decide finally to devide one system into a family again. they already started to talk about 4g. in some ways i tend to say to keep the hope to fullfill what they were dreaming in some ways already for gsm and definately for umts: one worldwide system. "The currently proposed 3G systems will, for the most part, not achieve this coordinated system vision or Global seamless roaming, leaving these as goals for fourth generation (4G) and beyond."</> A quote out of a paper that was already written in 1999. Fourth generation wireless has no official definition; it means different things to different people and seems so far out on the horizon, it's barely worth mentioning.
