2002 a much larger percentage of respondents to open source projects were from europe than were from or lived in the states - if you take into account the number of inhabitants (floss, osdn). where stands the east? in most surveys they fall under "rest of the world". are they less interested, because software in general doesn't cost them more than ~2$", if anything? a cd from altlinux costs 7$, (junior version) ok, there are companies over there as altlinux and lynuxworks and propably more, but somehow not a lot. so what is it, that they don't buy the need to hang out with the cool guys. ¿maybe it is just too complicated to show up at their fiestas? ...
