semantic bankruptcy

we will never dance on the web together (paul pangaro)

when people are dancing, they are acting under a certain agreement they accept under this circumstance. webinterfaces are not developed under those agreements. maybe they fullfill certain agreements that play a role within the company who pays for the design, but seldom they consider the need of an indivdual visitor who ended up there, says paul pangaro - more or less.

links (audio/x-mpeg, 404 KB) paul pangaro about links and bankruptcy.

a link can mean this, a link can mean that, but it also means declaring semantic bankruptcy.

well, there are a lot of thoughts on links out there and always have been. take hytime. ted nelson wanted to go in a different direction with xanadu, ... (vannevar bush and ted nelson revisited. chris also set an interesting pointer.

but after all, i think it's interesting to look into cybernetics. those guys had something to say and maybe there are lying some answers. the problem with cybernetics is, that it demands a kind of holistic view. that can be quite annoying, but - what the hack heck - it also can be ignored.

the brain is said to be like a muscle

after having read bateson's "mind and nature" and "ecology of mind", and skimmed fuller's synergetics http://www.rwgrayprojects.com/synergetics/toc/toc.html
my mind had achieved quite some cybernetics-ki-do skills. a qualitatevly different way of thinking emerged.

this's a while ago, i was much younger then, etc.

crime + punishment (almost as good as the karamassov brothers, maybe even better.)

Altough i must say, that bateson and fuller are "lighter", especially in winter, but who cares?
