ingredients for a team motzes, 21.12.2005 00:39h
at parc one found no shortage of egos and stern judges, but one thing on which all agreed was that once chuck thacker pronounced your idea " bullshit", you had best shut up and start shoveling. (dealers of lightning, m hiltzik)it seems it's necessary to have someone in the team who can iron egos. ... Comment

someone has to iron the crinkles. ok, under "; - and written by someone, who doesn't even own such a thing. meaning, you don't need to do this with a sledge. just stumbled over that: you can take it as "a force of nature", too ... and then, he's really funny about ideas. If you tell him a new idea, he'll usually tell you that he thinks it's stupid. But then, if he actually likes it, exactly one week later, he'll come back to you and propose your idea to you, as if he thought of it." (reality distortion field) ... link

no matter now if Chuck Thacker or Butler Lampson ironed other peoples egos and nobody in CSL was able to reign in Lampson's ego, all of these macho guys could have done a lot better by following the work of SSL collegue Lynn Conway. As they did not they (first Thacker then Lampson) hit the famous brick wall with dandelion (electrically) and dorado (monetarily) just a little later and had to learn the hard way that intellectual and logical genius smashes up like nothing without a little help from your could be friends. ... link

macho factor is one unnecessary side that makes the medal tarnish; i don't thing that you need that ego trip at all. on the other side, i guess the unwritten book is full of people sitting next to each other without commuting ever. ... link

i for myself am not totally sure teams can work completely without what we commonly call the macho or ego factor, Some things just never get done without those testosterones or whatever. It's built into the human metabolism and low level signal system. nature might know why it did some things this and others that way. BTW many women who did important things had quite a lot of that cojones stuff, or whatever. ... link

if this would be the price for entering el machismo, i would shut up - at least for a while ;) ... link
StefanL, 29/12/05 1:28
what i want to say is the really bad machismo is merely a defensive of imcompetent and a certain (maybe not too overpowering) from competent but competitive guys is bearable sometimes when they are in train of or just come from doing something senseful and essentially good. can we reach an agreement on this? ... link

the one who feels the need to act like a macho. actually really good ones, - professional machismo so to say, as you can face down south is a kind of art few can play as it comes in a subtle way; has nothing to do with childish behaviour one is often confronted in the nordic hemisphere. gitanos know it better and play it even harder. it's played as a corrida or pasadoble, dance of a vain cock. ... link ...
