in the end you can break it all down to a well known phenomenon/problem, described once as: coloring a bike shed: everyone wants to see his/her color on whatever. considering the voices in brussels and at open source projects one can conclude: programming problems/patterns mirroring politics, well somehow. and if you ask: ¿is it a bug or a feature? or: ¿does it function because of a bug? both sides would nod. also taking into account kirstein's old saying: anything technical is political (pseudoquote as i still don't know if what sticks in my head is just a germlish version)
