fun with social tech

the first time a got a card with "tech evangelist" on it was ~1998; i guess it was simon phipps, before he crossed the street and moved from ibm (ibm chief java and xlm evangelist) to sun (chief open source officer). now a study circulates about 29(39) of that kind, trying to light up their social behaviour and style; but you can also call the following: when your life becomes a graph ...

in regard to the survey a "tech evan" runs through three stages of development: natural, role adaption and projected behaviour.
... and follows in his professional live five or six character dimensions:

A the need to exert influence on people and events or, conversely, to adopt a consensual behavior.
B measures the need for social interaction or, conversely, the need of introversion.
C measures the degree of calm and patience or, conversely, the degree of tension.
D measures the need to conform to rules and structure or, conversely, the need to be uninhibited.
E measures the degree to which one is influenced by the emotions of others in thought and judgment.
M measures the level of response and of interaction with the environment. | technology evangelists: a leadership survey, growth resources, inc.

makes me wonder, particular about: ¿what was between E and M?

in their sights

after blogs are social networks on their radar for recruitment. waiting for the first official announcement of their wikis, though.

In the bigger picture, if the CIA experiment goes well, other government agencies may be encouraged to turn to social networking tools for recruitment in the future. With hundreds of thousands of government workers set to retire in the coming years, sites like Facebook and LinkedIn may represent an untapped source of future talent. | acm carreernews

metrical

poetry of programming | richard gabriel

And the chaos will become more pronounced, more diverse. It'll begin to sound more like a biological system than a mathematical system. There will be fewer monolithic pieces of software. Most of any "application" will be mostly on one machine, tightly interwoven, but there will be parts that are kind of loose. It'll be very dynamic, with a lot of failures. Deutsch's seven fallacies will dominate. We need to prepare for this.
