and then you just ask why

listening to people who try to find the perfect alghorithm for mayonnaise, reading about people who try to find out how a rotten "jonathan" apple 'sounds' compared to a good one, hearing about a team that works for 4 years on an experiment to get enough data to simulate how you can bake a perfect loaf of bread and others who tell me how chews per second and swallow down/s stands in relation with taste, .... i have to admit, i find this kind of stuff fascinating, but at the end it comes down again, and again and again to the question ¿why? you can write really good science fiction by listening to those people, but imagening their methods in reality is something different and ends with an average, predictable and estimable human being or - in this case: taste. afot, day one.

they are not smoking, hardly drinking or eating during the breaks. there was a dinner invitation tonight, but i prefered to go to a restaurante where i know the cook and can order extra salsa, my favorite salsa, if i want to.
