in whose service is cybernetics?

a question discussed 1953 in the east. the article was written by someone calling himself "materialist".

"The theory of Cybernetics, trying to extend the principles of modern computing machines to a broad variety of natural and social phenomena without due regard for their qualitative peculiarities, is mechanicism turning into idealism. It is a steril flower of the tree of knowledge arriving as a result of a one-sided and exaggerated blowing of a particular trait of epistemology...

The imperialists are unable to resolve the contradictions splitting the kapitalists’ world. They cannot prevent the approaching inexorable economical crisis. They try to find salvation not only in the frenziend arms drive but as well in the ideological weapon. In the depth of their despair they resort to the help of pseudo-sciences giving them some shadow of expectation to lengthen their survival".

but nevertheless there was alexey andreevich lyapunov .... early history of soviet cybernetics

ancient aspekt of flash

chris chesher thinks about computers as invocational media

However, Flash models graphical objects in a more Aristotelian manner. They are not pure forms, but composites. Lines are made up of points linked to other points. A line that meets itself creates an object that can be filled with a colour or pattern. The objects are stacked in hierarchical layers. Any object can be sent to the back or brought to the front. Objects may be grouped to form a higher order composite object.

Flash also models movement in a classical way. A feature called ‘tweening’ moves an object from one ‘key frame’ to another ‘key frame’ — between ‘privileged moments’ (Bergson 1998: 330). The program calculates the movement that takes place during the ‘In-between’ frames in order to render the movement (Ulrich 1999: 212). It invokes a ‘regulated transition from one form to another, that is, an order of poses or privileged instances, as in a dance’ (Deleuze 1986: 4. Italics in the original). The program smoothly transforms objects, not only in position, but in scale, rotation and even colour, as the playback head that marks ‘now time’ passes between the two key points.

aha. don´t really know what to do with that. maybe telling someone who thinks he is hip that he is aristotelian??? when people write on their phd .. but actually there is some interesting stuff in that paper.
